If you are interested at all, you are probably wondering how the new Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland movie faired when judged by the critics.

I consider the critics to be from two camps. There are the official, professional sort of critics and then there are the critics like you and me. The ordinary, regular movie-going and watching public.

This critic (Brenda) enjoyed the new Alice in Wonderland movie but decided it was not the best-ever movie and would not make her list of favorite movies. Many of the critics gave this movie marks ranging from 2.5 to 3.5. The passing today of Miep Gies, the Dutch woman who helped hide and feed Anne Frank and her family and friends, reminded me of our visit to Anne Frank’s house this summer at the end of our European cruise. You know, our visit and the whole story would have been lost without the brave actions on the part of Ms. Gies while the Franks were in hiding and without her quick act of rescuing the abandoned diary on the floor of the loft.

Our Visit To Anne Frank’s House tells of our all-to-brief visit and hopefully will help others as they decide what to see and do when they visit Amsterdam.

Recently, I watched the classic children’s television program by Charles Schulz featuring all of the Peanuts gang.  I don’t know when I last saw it, but I had definitely forgotten what happened to Charlie Brown in this television special. 

Do you know what happened? How’d it make you feel?  My bottom jaw hung open for literally minutes. I honestly could not believe that those kids were that mean.

My blu-ray adventures continue (despite the fact that I haven’t written about them here for awhile.) I’ve recently discovered how to Build Your Blu-ray Collection Quickly With A Blu-ray Movie Box Set. There are some excellent blu-ray movies put together at great prices, you just have to be sure to do your research because it is not always a better deal to buy the boxed sets.  Amazon does continue to be a great source because of their greatly reduced prices and the possibility of FREE shipping for orders worth $25 or more.

Laid low with the flu and a cold two weeks before Christmas was just not great. However, I did manage to watch three Christmas movies during that time.  It’s not too late. If you’re looking for a heart-warming Chrismtas movie, you might want to check one of these out:

Hallmark Hall of Fame’s A Dog Named Christmas Movie ~~ This is a brand-new Hallmark movie that was just released for Christmas 2009.  It aired once and is now available for purchase from Amazon by clicking here. A great family-friendly story.

Hallmark Entertainment’s A Boyfriend For Christmas ~~ I called this one a light-hearted romantic comedy.  It is family friendly, a bit on the ‘chick flick’ side. Click here to buy A Boyfriend for Christmas from Amazon.

Lifetime Original’s Comfort And Joy Christmas Movie ~~ A highly sought after movie, this one flew off the shelves of my eBay store this fall.  I finally opened a copy to watch it myself and see what the fuss was all about and I wasn’t disappointed. Although the last two movies can be called romantic comedies, there is nothing offensive in either of them for family viewing.  You just might be hard pressed to get your teenage guys to watch any of them with you. (I certainly was!)
